A New Destiny

2 Corinthians 5:1-5 (NLT) - For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down (that is, when we die and leave this earthly body), we will have a house in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands. We grow weary in our present bodies, and we long to put on our heavenly bodies like new clothing. For we will put on heavenly bodies; we will not be spirits without bodies. While we live in these earthly bodies, we groan and sigh, but it’s not that we want to die and get rid of these bodies that clothe us. Rather, we want to put on our new bodies so that these dying bodies will be swallowed up by life. God himself has prepared us for this, and as a guarantee he has given us his Holy Spirit.

Colossians 3:1–4 (NLT) - Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.

You are very aware that your life as you know it will end someday. This is certain. Before you knew Christ, maybe you wondered what would happen when you died. Where would you go? Heaven? Hell? Somewhere in between?

Well, now you know. You are destined for Heaven. Even now, Jesus is preparing a place for you.

You will have a new home, and it is a perfect place.   There will be no darkness, only Everlasting Light.  Jesus is there and you will see Him face to face.  The love you see, feel, hear, touch, experience….will be like nothing you have ever dreamed.  In harmony and unity, you will live with your brothers and sisters in His Presence and you will be surrounded by His Glory, worshipping Him for eternity.  Heaven is a holy city full of activity and purpose.  A place of unimaginable joy, peace, and harmony.  Heaven is a beautiful place full of rest.  A place of no death, no pain, no sorrow, no weeping. In your new home, you will experience true life and pure contentment with Jesus.

You will have a new body and it will be perfect.  No sickness.  No weakness.  A new body created by God for living in heaven forever.

Though salvation is a gift, there will also be a reward for your faithfulness. How you lived your life on earth will matter when it comes time to receive your heavenly reward.  Jesus will honor pure hearts that do what is right in his sight. Diligent hands and feet serving others as Jesus taught his followers to do will be recognized. Those who withstood persecution, continually giving glory to His Name, will be applauded and revered by all.

Everyone will take their last breath at some point.  And now, you know where you are going. You know your new destiny and you know Jesus will be there.  A whole new world and a whole new you awaits when your life on earth is complete.  You don’t have to be afraid.  Something truly awe-some and wonder-full awaits!
