A New Manual

2 Timothy 3:16 (NLT) - All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

Psalm 119:105 (NLT) - Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.

One of the greatest gifts of God is the Holy Bible. It is the historic account of God’s work in the world. It is the true story of God’s love for people. It is the guidebook for a meaningful, God-centered life.

It is important to be assured that you believe the Bible is the Word of God.  If you have doubts about its validity, you may need to seek resources that explain to you who and how the Bible was written and compiled.  God’s Word is Truth, and it is His desire that you will trust it and do what it says.  Therefore, having a foundational conviction and belief that the Holy Bible is indeed the Word of God is of utmost importance.

Commands and instructions can be perceived as constricting, but God imparts them as a means for true life and real joy.  Given with love, they provide wisdom and guidance that lead to lasting life change. Learning and practicing God’s principles will help you live your new life consistently.  Just as food sustains the physical body, the Bible is a sustaining nourishment for your soul.  “Eating it” will build you up and make you strong.

You may be intimidated to read the Bible at first, concerned that you are not a good enough reader,  nor knowledgable about spiritual things.   Keep in mind that the Bible was written for all people everywhere.  If you have a copy of the Bible in your own language, God will speak to you through it.  Education nor economics, your personal past nor your pending future can keep you from the truth of God’s word.  Whether you read it yourself or listen to it as audio, God will speak to you.

The Bible was written for you, to give you light in darkness and life in abundance. Before you read the Bible, pray for understanding.  Ask God to show you what it says and what it means.  After you read it, pray for understanding; ask God for direction.  What does He want you to know?  What does He want you to do?  God speaks to his followers through his word. What is He saying to you?
